James Desmond Ridder is an American football quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. He played college football at Cincinnati, where he was twice-named AAC Offensive Player of the Year before being selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Desmond Ridder has been struggling with his accuracy in OTAs
Ridder was 26th in accuracy in 2022 for all quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts and that trend has continued early in camp. On one hand, it's only May and the team is still early into the third phase of its voluntary program. On the other hand, accuracy is arguably the primary desirable trait for a quarterback and a continuation of 2022's trend would be a concern. Ridder has been handed the reins in 2023 and a sub-optimal early-season performance could send him to the bench in favor of offseason signee Taylor Heinicke. Beyond 2023, look for the team to address the position in the 2024 draft. Ridder is found as DLF's QB32, showing little confidence by the dynasty community that he's the long term answer under center.

The Falcons are throwing sophomore quarterback Desmond Ridder into the pool to see if he can swim.
The team did not address the position via the 2023 NFL Draft but did sign Taylor Heinicke as a backup option. Ridder will be given full opportunity to succeed in 2023 and the team will assess his performance along the way toward determining whether or not to address the position in 2024. Given Desmond Ridder's QB32 ranking on DLF, expectations for performance remain low.

Desmond Ridder can expect a more balanced offense than the run-heavy one from 2022
Ridder was a big winner as the dust settled from the 2023 NFL Draft. The team selected phenom Bijan Robinson early on day-one of the draft and he'll be paired with standout rookie Tyler Allgeier to share carries, while also seeing increased work as a receiver. Dynamic playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson also remains under contract and will mix-in both in the backfield, and as a receiver. Kyle Pitts will return from injury and the team also added capable veteran Jonnu Smith at the position. Sophomore receiver Drake London is the clear WR1. Ridder looks to have a full year to prove he can be the new face of the franchise for the rebuilding team though veteran Taylor Heinicke is waiting in the wings should he falter. Found as DLF's QB34, Ridder presents as an intriguing buy-low candidate on the chance he's able to produce in 2023 and retain the role going forward.

Desmond Ridder is still the starter in 2023 for the Falcons
Listed as being "all in" on Ridder for 2023, the report should come with a footnote about the looming 2023 NFL Draft, in which the team is well positioned to move up for a top rookie or, select a fading Will Levis. By all appearances, the team will pass on selecting another rookie quarterback after signing Taylor Heinicke as backup, perhaps allowing the chips to fall where they may for 2023 and reloading for a potential selection during the upside 2024 draft. Ridder, DLF's QB25, is going to get a fair shot to be under center when the regular season kicks off in September.

There's no indication, either way, if the Falcons see sophomore Desmond Ridder as a potential starter in 2023
Apparently, no one "inside the building" is talking about Ridder or the opportunity to address the position via the draft. While some times prefer to put up smoke screens, others just go quiet as is the case with the Falcons. It's still early and with the Combine taking place later this month, there's a possibility more will emerge at that time. Ridder finished under-center in the team's final four games, producing a 63.5% completion percentage, throwing for 708 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. With added mobility, Ridder does possess an intriguing skillset and it's possible he could grow into the starting role with another year of experience but, at the same time, the team possesses the 8th-overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and should have options if deemed necessary. Ridder is found as DLF's QB27 and this ranking hangs in the balance as the offseason plays out. A highly drafted rookie or the acquisition of a top free agent would send Ridder's dynasty stock off a cliff.
