The belief is that Tank Bigsby will have "every opportunity" to be Travis Etienne's primary backup in 2023.
The report also suggested the rookie could even out-touch Etienne in some games. Bigsby has stood out during spring practices, impressing teammates and coaches alike. Questions remain about the rookie's ability to pass protect, which could limit his third-down usage but it's not uncommon for rookie running backs to struggle in that area. Bigsby's highest upside would require injury above him on the depth chart but DLF's RB50 looks to have potential runway to early-career production.

While it's only day two of camp, rookie running back Tank Bigsby shined.
The third-round back "flashed as a pass-catcher" by catching three touchdown passes, including two within the red zone. He also nearly scored a fourth touchdown but fell out of bounds at the one-yard line. Glowing reports will come early and often while the players remain in shorts, but any buzz is good buzz and there's no question the Jaguars could use a backup presence behind starter Travis Etienne. Bigsby is found as DLF's rookie RB8 and our RB53 overall. He'll be hard-pressed to create consistent fantasy production without injury to Etienne.

The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted running back Tank Bigsby in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Dynasty enthusiasts were clearly hoping for a better landing spot as Travis Etienne is the undisputed RB1 for the Jags. Without a clear path to a starting job, Bigsby's stock is likely to drop into the third round of rookie drafts since he also provides very little in the passing game. This was one of the more disappointing picks in the entire 2023 NFL Draft.

Bigsby possesses the size and NFL-style to rise on draft day but projects as a good-but-not-great prospect. That said, running back role players continue to rise in today's NFL which devalues running backs at an ever-increasing rate. A good drafted situation will give further rise to Bigsby's DLF RB5 ranking, our R16 overall.

comment We all love Travis Etienne, but he is not equipped to run into the heart of the defense 300 times per season. Bigsby can do the dirty work and offers excellent upside if Etienne misses time. His slashing, confident running style should be a strong complement to Etienne. |
