The Saints believe running back Kendre Miller has huge upside
The team reportedly believed he was the draft's third-best running back and lauded him for his speed, toughness, and ability to run downhill. At the same time, they admitted he needs to "clean up his pass protection" as is common for rookie backs. Starter Alvin Kamara may be facing a suspension to begin the 2023 regular season and, if so, it could thrust Miller into a starting role if the rookie is able to perform this offseason. Not known for his receiving prowess, Miller is currently a two-down prospect who is young and possesses considerable upside in the future. He's listed as DLF's RB36.

The New Orleans Saints drafted TCU running back Kendre Miller in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Well, this is interesting. While they still have Alvin Kamara and the newly signed Jamaal Williams, they also likely lack a true long-term option at running back. Kamara is likely to be suspended, so Miller could carve out early playing time to prove himself as well. He's looking like a sneaky good dart throw late in round two or early in round three.

comment Given Miller missed the preparation/testing period up to the draft, it is encouraging he got Day 2 capital. The Saints are preparing for life without Alvin Kamara - be it through suspension or simply moving on - and while Miller's early returns could be minimal he has a huge opportunity long-term. |
