Josh Downs is dealing with a minor knee injury
It probably isn't even newsworthy but Downs is a rookie and needs to develop chemistry with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson while also working on needed NFL-level conditioning requirements. Mandatory OTAs kick-off next month so the team will be cautious with the projected starter in the slot to ensure he's back and fully healthy when they begin. Downs is found as DLF's rookie WR5 and our WR59 overall.

According to Colts receiver coach Reggie Wayne, Josh Downs was "the best receiver at the Combine."
Other teams don't agree as Downs was the 12th receiver selected, 79th overall, during the 2023 NFL Draft. Wayne said that he found himself constantly returning to Downs during the Combine and came away impressed with his route-running and fluid movement. At 5'9"/171 lbs., Downs has been falling in rookie drafts primarily due to size but should have an immediate role on offense out of the slot, potentially in an upside situation between larger receivers Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce. If he's able to solidify himself as a reliable and durable receiver for rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson, Downs, DLF's rookie WR5 and our WR59 overall, could be a candidate to outplay his current ranking.

The Indianapolis Colts selected North Carolina wide receiver Josh Downs in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Downs was a hot prospect going into the NFL Draft but he slid all the way down to the end of round three, finally being taken by the Indianapolis Colts. Downs, a top ten rookie pick pre-draft, is going to have a hard time keeping that spot with the draft capital (or lack thereof) used on him. Still, this looks like a solid landing spot for a highly productive player who looks NFL ready. His upside is tied to that of Anthony Richardson but Downs looks like a solid round two pick in dynasty rookie drafts.

It's a good time for Downs but not spectacular. He also measured in at 173 lbs., a similar size to USC's Jordan Addison. Downs is in a battle to be dynasty's WR4, with Zay Flowers currently holding onto the ranking. Downs is listed as DLF's WR4. Both will be intriguing late-first selections in dynasty rookie drafts.
