In The Athletic's "Injury Mailbag," J.K. Dobbins still carries a high injury risk label.
Dobbins is over a year removed from his most recent ACL injury but has struggled with various lower body injuries dating back to college. The article's author projects he'll see time in 12-15 games in 2023. The big back ran well in his late-2022 return but showed a material degradation in long speed, something Dobbins even mentioned himself. If healthy, he'll take the reins as the Ravens RB1 but will face competition from Gus Edwards. Listed as DLF's RB17, a healthy season coupled with less running from star quarterback Lamar Jackson could propel Dobbins' value higher, but any lost time due to injury will further pressure his ranking.

JK Dobbins is frustrated with his contract situation and sat out mandatory minicamp this week.
This is a head-scratcher. Dobbins has missed 27 games after being a second-round selection in 2020, exceeding the 23 he's appeared in. He missed all of 2021 following an ACL injury in training camp followed by six games in 2022 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery. Following his return, while he maintained an effective ypc. average, he looked slower than previous to his injury and commented that he still needed to get his speed back. Now in a contract year, Dobbins has little leverage to apply for a new contract when few backs sign a second contract with their drafting team. Listed as DLF's RB17, if fully healthy, JK Dobbins has the ability to be a top back in the league, but he's yet to provide the consistency to give the dynasty community confidence it will be in 2023.

The Baltimore Ravens failed to draft a running back in round one of the NFL Draft.
The Ravens were rumored to have interest in Bijan Robinson, with many outlets claiming they were trying to move way up in the draft to secure his services. In the end, Atlanta ended any trade activity behind them as they selected Robinson at #8 overall. This is good news for Dobbins, who would have experienced a serious value drop if the Ravens would have taken Bijan. As it stands, Dobbins is poised to finally have his breakout campaign after finishing strong last season. He comes in as our RB17 at the moment.
