The Giants drafted Oklahoma running back Eric Gray in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The pick makes sense as New York had only the aging Matt Breida as their backup to Saquon Barkley. While Gray doesn't have much of a path to a starting job unless Saquon fails to get a new contract, there's some upside here as he could be a solid handcuff and spot starter should Barkley miss time and he outperforms Breida in camp. Gray looks the part of a fourth round pick in rookie drafts.
