Who Is Bryce Young?
Bryce Christopher Young is an American football quarterback for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, setting the school record for most passing yards in a single game and winning several player of the year awards in 2021, including the Heisman Trophy.

Bryce Young has been elevated to the QB1 on the Panthers depth chart.
While Young sits atop the depth chart, he's not yet considered the "starter." It's only a formality at this point with full expectation that Young will be under-center when the Panthers take the field in week one of the regular season. By all accounts, Young has impressed with his abilities and is already showing leadership, intelligence and command of the huddle in his short time as a rookie. Look for the official move to "starter" to occur mid-way through training camp. Young is listed as DLF's QB14 and our rookie QB2 behind only Anthony Richardson.

Speaking on the topic of Bryce Young's first practice, head coach Frank Reich said he "just showed complete" of the offense.
Young's first pass was incomplete but reportedly made his next five. Reich lauded his accuracy and presence in the huddle though admitted it's only day one. We'll be hearing a lot of positive reports on 2023's exciting rookie class of quarterbacks as camps get underway but the real test will come during the regular season. Young continues to track as DLF's rookie QB2 behind only Anthony Richardson and must answer questions surrounding his small stature and slight build, his only two flags. There's no questioning his personality, work ethic, arm or intelligence, setting up a situation that, if successful, may help redefine the image of what a prototypical franchise quarterback looks like physically. According to Panthers' GM Scott Fitterer, there's no timetable for Bryce Young to start
Andy Dalton was mentioned as the starter but that there's an open competition in camp. Regardless of the words spoke, it will be a surprise if Young isn't under-center to begin 2023. If not at the beginning of the season, expect the rookie to make his debut shortly thereafter to give him experience. Young is found as DLF's QB13 and our rookie QB2.

There's no real surprise here as Young was the first-overall selection for the Panthers and will be expected to assume the role as the team's new face of the franchise when September rolls around. Undersized for the position but with significant upside in all other areas and traits, Young's level of success will be closely eyed to determine if a change in the positional prototype is warranted. Currently listed as DLF's QB13, Bryce Young remains an intriguing story in dynasty.

The Carolina Panthers selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As expected. The former Alabama quarterback will take over a team in transition and instantly becomes the face of the franchise in Charlotte. Andy Dalton should be a good mentor for him as Young will undoubtedly be the opening day starter. With DJ Moore in Chicago, Carolina has a long way to go to surround him with talent. However, Young has the goods to be a solid NFL and dynasty quarterback. He should be the top pick in Superflex drafts and a second rounder in traditional formats this Fall. He will also likely be close to a top ten overall dynasty quarterback after the dust of the NFL Draft settles.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Panthers will indeed take Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
He's also reporting the Texans attempted to trade up one spot for Young but failed to come to an agreement with Carolina. Houston sealed its own fate by winning the last week of the season, a fact they'll have to live with. Carolina is set to take Young and move forward with him as the face of the franchise. He'll be a favorite to go in the top three in Superflex leagues and a likely second round pick in conventional formats.

Bryce Young is "head-and-shoulders" above all others to be the first-overall selection in the NFL Draft.
It's been a back and forth race between Young and Stroud with Stroud believed to be the choice until two weeks ago. Now it appears that it's Young as the choice due to a combination of arm strength, pocket awareness, mobility and intelligence. Both young quarterbacks will almost certainly be drafted first and second overall to teams with dire need at the position, the order of selection the only real remaining mystery. Young is ranked as DLF's QB2 behind Stroud.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson believes "Bryce Young is the pick."
While not a bold statement, Mortenson is leaving little doubt about his belief with the absolute use of the word "will." According to Mortenson, the entire organization loves Bryce Young and, while they like C.J. Stroud as well, it will be Young whose name is called first. By all accounts, Stroud and Young are this year's 1A and 1B selections and are most assuredly going to be selected with the first two picks of the Draft, by the Panthers and Texans respectively. Bryce Young is listed as DLF's rookie QB2 behind Stroud.

According to PFF, Bryce Young should be the first quarterback selected in the 2023 NFL Draft
With most signs still pointing to C.J. Stroud being selected first-overall, PFF cites multiple metrics and two years of unquestionable statistics which paint Young very favorably as a should-be top selection. If not for size concerns, it's no stretch to suggest Young would run-away with the honor, but at 5'10" and a questionable 204 lbs., the belief is that the prototypical size of Stroud makes for a safer selection. The Panthers hold the top selection and have refused to rule out Young as their pick, so anything is possible, including trading away the position if they are equally smitten with both players, though that is unlikely after trading up for the right to choose. Young has slipped to DLF's QB2 behind only Stroud.

The Bears are fully expected to trade the first-overall selection and the Cotls, arguably, are the best landing spot for a rookie quarterback. Following the combine, C.J. Stroud has closed the gap after what many experts say was the best performance yet for a rookie quarterback, but Young's combination of mobility, arm strength and leadership seemingly will keep him atop the draft. Young is found as DLF's rookie QB1 in all formats.

Young sees the field at an elite level and while he prefers to scan the field for receiving options, he can add value with his feet. If the Panthers can add weaponry around him, Young has excellent upside. At the very least, he is more intriguing than some of the steady veterans who currently occupy the QB2 range of dynasty rankings. |
